In a lucid dream I experienced being completely relaxed. This was
not an ordinary state of relaxation, but one of embodied bliss. I lay
in my bed knowing myself as a perfect union of spirit and flesh. It
was the immense truth beneath the common fractured appearance of
reality.
I did not think that I could depict such a moment, but my urge to
express the perfection of our essential state was irrepressible. As I
painted, I especially enjoyed portraying her naked body as neither
thin nor young.
She simply is as is.
